What to wear for Hyrox: shorts, tights and tops
Hyrox clothing has to survive two things most running kit never meets: a sandbag sitting across your shoulders and back for a full lunge station, and a venue that is warmer than anywhere you trained.
That rules out very little, but it rules it out firmly. Anything that traps heat, rides up under load, or has a seam where the bag sits is going to be a long morning.
[ What to look for ]
- A close fit that does not ride up. Loose shorts under a sandbag move in ways you will notice by the second lunge length.
- Fabric that moves sweat rather than holding it. You will be wet from early on.
- Flat seams, and as few of them as possible across the shoulders and upper back.
- Shorts with a liner, or tights, if you chafe on long runs — the runs total 8 km.
- Something you can push sleeves up on, or short sleeves outright. Venues run hot.
[ What to avoid ]
- Cotton anything. It holds sweat, gets heavy and chafes once it is wet.
- Zips, thick seams or logos where the sandbag sits.
- Baggy vests that shift under the bag or catch on it.
- A brand-new outfit. See every other guide here: train in it first.
