HYROX Glasgow runs 10 to 14 March 2027 at the Scottish Event Campus, Exhibition Way, Glasgow G3 8YW. Divisions and waves spread across that window, so your race day depends on what you enter.
The race is standardised worldwide. Venue, travel and your training block are the parts you control.

Why trust this
The date and venue are read from HYROX's own event listing rather than estimated from calendar patterns. Ben Sutherland races Pro Doubles on the Elite 15 start list and has won at Glasgow, so the preparation notes come from racing it.

There is no Glasgow course
Station order, distances and division loads are fixed by the rulebook and identical everywhere: SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, row, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, wall balls, each preceded by a 1km run.
What varies by venue and genuinely moves your time:
- Track layout and laps per kilometre. More laps, more corners, less rhythm.
- Floor surface, which changes sled friction. The same weight feels different hall to hall.
- Roxzone length, the transition zone, whose time counts towards your finish.
- Wave congestion at busier events.
Comparing your Glasgow time to a friend's from another city is not a like-for-like comparison.
Getting there
The SEC sits on the north bank of the Clyde, just west of the city centre.
- Train to Exhibition Centre station, which is beside the campus and a few minutes from Glasgow Central.
- Walk from the city centre in roughly twenty to twenty-five minutes along the river.
- Car, with on-site parking, though a busy event weekend fills it.
The campus contains several venues, so check which hall your event is in before you set off across the site.
The March factor
A March race in Scotland shapes your block more than most.
Your training runs through a Scottish winter. Counting back twelve weeks from mid-March starts you in mid-December, which means the entire block sits in the shortest, coldest, wettest part of the year. This is the single biggest practical challenge of a Glasgow entry, and it is a planning problem rather than a fitness one.
Decide in advance how you will run in the dark and the wet. Treadmill sessions are a legitimate answer, not a compromise, and a plan you will actually complete beats an outdoor plan you will abandon in January.
The hall will be cold before your wave. Layers you can shed late are worth more here than at a summer event.
The practical part: twelve weeks out from Glasgow
Counting back from mid-March, a twelve-week block starts around mid-December. That spans the festive period, so build the disruption in rather than pretending it will not happen.
- Weeks 1-4, running base through the worst of it. Three runs weekly. Accept that some will be indoors. Consistency matters more than conditions.
- Weeks 5-8, add compromised work. One session a week straight from a station into a run. Row 500m, run 1km, four times. This is what the race actually feels like.
- Weeks 9-11, everything at race weight. Weigh your gym's sled, then load to total race weight, since the rulebook figures are sled-inclusive.
- Week 12, taper. Halve volume, keep intensity. Nothing gained in the last week, plenty lost by overreaching.
- Plan around late December deliberately. Two weeks of reduced training in the middle of a block is survivable if it is planned. It is much less survivable as an unplanned collapse followed by guilt-driven overtraining in January.
What to bring
- Warm layers for before your wave, and a change of clothes for afterwards.
- Gloves if you use them for the sled pull and farmers carry.
- Shoes you have already trained in.
- Food for a longer wait than you expect.
Honest limitations
Wave times are set at entry close and hall layouts are published near the event, so neither is knowable here.
Dates and venues do change. These were read from the official listing; confirm before booking travel.
And a genuine one: a mid-March race means a mid-winter block. If you know from experience that you do not train well through January, a spring or autumn race elsewhere may simply suit you better. That is a legitimate reason to choose a different event.
Next step
Establish where your fitness sits before setting a target. The fitness assessment quiz takes a few minutes.
The free HYROX plan maker builds a block counting back from race day, which matters more than usual when the block runs through winter.
