Hydrox is a biscuit. A chocolate sandwich cookie, first sold in 1908, and the one the Oreo was modelled on rather than the other way round.
HYROX is a fitness race: 8km of running split into eight 1km segments, each followed by a standardised workout station, held to identical specifications worldwide.
If you searched for Hydrox and got gym timetables, race results and sled photos, you wanted HYROX. There is no D.
Why this happens so often
Most misspellings are nonsense strings that search engines correct silently. This one is different, because Hydrox is a real product with a real history, so the wrong spelling returns genuine results about something else entirely.
The pull is strong enough that "hydrox training", "hydrox gym", "hydrox events" and "hydrox uk" are all searched regularly by people who mean the race. Autocorrect does not help, because it is not correcting anything.
Other spellings that land in the same place: hirox, hyrdox, hryox, hyroc. All of them are HYROX.

HYROX in thirty seconds
You run 1km, do a workout station, run another kilometre, do the next station. Eight times, in a fixed order: SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, row, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, wall balls.
The order, distances and loads are identical at every event in the world. There is no qualification, anyone can enter the Open division, and the minimum age is 16. Most first-time finishers land somewhere between 75 and 110 minutes.
That is genuinely the whole thing. The full explainer covers the weights and what a realistic first race looks like.
The questions people ask next
If you arrived here by mistyping the name, you are probably new to the whole thing. These are the four that follow.
Do I need to be fit already? No qualification, and the Open division is built for people who train in a gym rather than for athletes. If you can run 5km without stopping you can complete one, though it will be hard. If you cannot yet, that is a twelve-week problem, not a permanent one.
How long does it take? Most first-time finishers come in between 75 and 110 minutes. Where you land is predicted mostly by your running, not your strength, which surprises nearly everyone.
Do I need special kit? One pair of trainers you have already run in, and clothing you can move in. That is genuinely it. There is no footwear rule in the rulebook.
Is it like CrossFit? No. CrossFit varies its workouts deliberately and includes barbell lifting and gymnastics skills. HYROX is one fixed race with no skill movements, repeated identically worldwide. If you can push a sled and throw a wall ball, you already know every movement in it.
And the biscuit, briefly
Hydrox was made by Sunshine Biscuits from 1908. Nabisco launched the Oreo four years later, in 1912. So the widely held belief that Hydrox was the copy has it backwards, which is a small injustice the internet enjoys correcting.
It is not a sports nutrition product, it has no connection to the race, and eating one will not help your sled push.
Source for the biscuit dates: Wikipedia's Oreo entry for the 1912 launch, and Food Republic on Hydrox arriving in 1908. Included because this page makes a factual claim about a real product, and the same sourcing rule applies whether the subject is a sled weight or a cookie.

Frequently asked
Is it Hydrox or HYROX?
If you mean the fitness race, it is HYROX, with no D. Hydrox is a chocolate sandwich biscuit first sold in 1908. The two are entirely unrelated, which is why searching the wrong one returns confusing results.
What is Hydrox training?
There is no such thing. People searching that phrase almost always mean HYROX training: preparing for a race of 8km of running broken up by eight standardised workout stations.
Why do people spell HYROX as Hydrox?
Because Hydrox is a real word that already existed, so autocorrect and memory both pull towards it. It is by a distance the most common misspelling of the race.
